What is an Independent Record Label?
An independent record label (an "indie label") is a music company that operates independently from the major record label system. Independent labels can sign and develop artists, release and distribute music, provide career support, marketing, creative services, and other resources while typically working with smaller teams and offering more hands-on artist development.
Do you listen to every submission?
Yes. We review every submission, but response times can vary depending on volume. If it's a fit, we'll reach out using the contact info you provided.
What kind of music can I submit?
You can submit a singing video, demo, finished song, or even an unfinished song. We're evaluating voice, sound, potential, and overall talent.
Why do you require social media links?
We evaluate your brand, image, and overall presence alongside the music. Social links help us understand your direction and audience.
Do you accept attachments?
No attachments, please. Submit links only (music and socials) so we can review quickly and securely.
Do you offer cash advances or signing bonuses?
No. Artax Records does not currently offer cash advances, signing bonuses, or money simply for signing to the label. Instead, we invest in our artists through professional services, resources, artist development, management support, distribution, mastering, marketing guidance, and other benefits provided through the label relationship.
Where are you located?
Artax Records is based in Los Angeles, California, and operates within the Los Angeles music and entertainment community. While our home base is in Los Angeles, we may also consider artists located outside the area depending on the artist, project, and type of support needed.
Do I have to live in Los Angeles?
No. You do not necessarily have to live in Los Angeles to submit your music or be considered by Artax Records. However, because we are based in Los Angeles, certain opportunities, recording or content sessions, performances, meetings, and in-person artist development may require travel to Los Angeles.
What happens if you are interested in my music?
If we believe there may be a good fit, a member of our team will contact you to discuss your music, goals, development needs, and what working with Artax Records could look like. Submitting music does not guarantee an offer or record deal.
What services are available to signed artists?
Support can vary depending on the artist and agreement, but may include artist development, management and career guidance, music distribution, professional mastering, branding and image guidance, marketing and promotion, industry networking, release strategy, and additional creative or professional support. Red Velvet Studios also offers additional services outside of the Artax Records label agreement. Signed artists can request additional production, creative, marketing, studio, content, or other services through Red Velvet Studios when they need additional work or support. Additional services may have separate costs depending on the project.
