The Story of Red Velvet Studios

Founded in 2012, Red Velvet Studios is a Los Angeles–based music production company dedicated to helping artists refine both their sound and their brand. Our team specializes in producing, recording, mixing, and mastering across multiple genres, while also offering PR, social media management, and music marketing strategy.

We’ve had the privilege of working with artists of all ages and stages — from young singers and songwriters as early as age 5 discovering their voice, to seasoned professionals and passionate creators in their 60s and beyond. Every artist receives the same level of care, creativity, and collaboration suited to their unique journey.

At Red Velvet Studios, we go beyond studio time — offering a fully collaborative process from concept to release. We focus on artist identity, presentation, and audience connection, blending top-tier production with expert brand development.

Team Lead

Carter Murphy

Carter Murphy is an undergraduate student at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Music Industry with a minor in Music Production (Class of 2028).

In her role as Team Lead at Red Velvet Studios, Carter helps make key strategic decisions, guides projects in a leadership capacity, and plays an active role in hiring, candidate scouting, and identifying brand opportunities. She also leverages her experience in event marketing as a Red Bull Student Marketeer, where she designs and executes high-impact promotional activations, and her background as a Social Media Intern for Door of Hope, where she led creative campaigns to further the organization’s mission.

With over 15 years of experience as a producer and engineer, Joseph has collaborated with hundreds of artists across genres, earning a reputation for his sharp ear, strong leadership, and commitment to excellence.

With over 15 years of experience as a producer and engineer, Joseph has collaborated with hundreds of artists across genres, earning a reputation for his sharp ear, strong leadership, and commitment to excellence. A graduate of the Musicians Institute’s esteemed Audio Engineering program — alma mater to artists like Anderson .Paak and Bishop Briggs — Joseph pairs his deep technical knowledge with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing to bring both creative and strategic insight to every project. Joseph graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Southern New Hampshire University, earning Dean’s List honors and achieving a GPA of 3.956. His early mentorship under Grammy-winning producer !llmind (Drake, J. Cole, Beyoncé, Kanye West) helped shape his approach: disciplined, intentional, and always artist-first. Since founding Red Velvet Studios in 2012, he has built a space where artists can thrive.
