Red Velvet Studios
Q: What types of events does Red Velvet Studios host?
A: We host a variety of creative music events, not just one type. These include Artist Showcases, Open Mics, Mixers & Networking Nights, and Pass the Aux Sessions where artists can share unreleased music. Some events combine multiple formats — blending performance, networking, and collaboration for the full Red Velvet Studios experience.
A: An artist showcase is a curated live music event designed to highlight talented performers in front of a real audience — including fellow creatives, music lovers, and industry professionals.
Each showcase is carefully curated by the Red Velvet Studios team to create a high-quality live experience. Unlike an open mic where anyone can perform, our showcases feature approved artists who have been reviewed, selected, and invited by our team based on their music, performance ability, and overall vibe.
This approach allows us to choose artists who will be enjoyable to see and hear live, ensuring that every event delivers a memorable experience for both the audience and performers. By maintaining this level of selectivity, we raise the quality of talent and the overall atmosphere of each show — making every Red Velvet Studios event stand out.
Submission & Review – Artists fill out our sign-up form and share their music, performance clips, and social links.
Curation & Approval – Our team listens, reviews, and selects the artists who best fit the mood, quality, and energy of the event.
Invitation to Perform – Once approved, selected artists are contacted by Red Velvet Studios to perform at an upcoming showcase.
A: Our events take place at different venues and creative spaces around Los Angeles and nearby areas. Each event may have a unique theme, setup, or location depending on the format and availability of the venue.
A: No — the dates listed on the submission form are tentative and may change. Final event dates depend on venue coordination, availability, and scheduling. Once confirmed, we’ll contact selected artists directly with the finalized details.
A: We welcome independent and emerging artists of all genres, though we primarily focus on solo performers. This allows us to maintain smooth transitions between sets and a consistent professional flow throughout the event.
A: We’re mainly looking for artists who can perform with backing tracks, piano, or acoustic guitar. These setups keep transitions short and maintain high sound quality for everyone involved.
A: Yes — a PA system will be available at the event. Artists should come fully prepared with their music ready to play, ideally as live or performance versions of their songs.
All tracks should be ready to plug directly into the aux input for playback.
Please note: Red Velvet Studios does not provide musical instruments or personal gear, so artists are responsible for bringing any instruments, microphones, or other equipment they need.
A: Performers should be prepared to do 1–3 songs, depending on how the night flows, the number of performers, and song length. In some cases, artists may perform up to 5 songs maximum, but this is at the discretion of the organizers.
Red Velvet Studios reserves the right to shorten or adjust set times if needed to keep the event on schedule.
A: No — you don’t need to live in LA. However, you must be able to attend and perform in person if selected. Please only apply if you can travel to Los Angeles for the confirmed event date.
A: Every submission is reviewed carefully based on music quality, performance style, and readiness. Even if you’re not selected for the current lineup, we’ll keep your information on file for future events.
A: If we want to include you in an upcoming event lineup, we’ll reach out to you by text, email, or DM using the contact information you provided.
If you don’t hear from us right away, don’t worry — your submission will stay on file for future opportunities.
You do not need to reach out or reapply if you haven’t been contacted yet. Just because you weren’t selected for one event doesn’t mean you won’t be chosen for another in the future — we often circle back to artists we’ve kept on file when planning new lineups.
A: Even if you’re not chosen for the curated lineup, we still encourage you to attend the event. Some of our shows include open-mic or name-draw opportunities, meaning you could still have a chance to perform live that night.
Even if you don’t end up performing, attending is still a great opportunity to network, meet new creatives, and support other artists. Every event is also a community mixer, so being present helps you build relationships and stay connected for future opportunities.
A: Our events are community-based and exposure-driven, focused on building relationships, growing audiences, and creating professional content for emerging artists. While direct payment isn’t provided, performers often gain valuable visibility, networking opportunities, and career connections through participating.
In some cases, artists may also receive prizes, products, or official Red Velvet Studios merch as part of their involvement. Beyond the stage, we actively promote our performers on our large social media platforms, which are followed by major music industry professionals, producers, and record label representatives.
Simply being featured on our page is an opportunity in itself, as it introduces your artistry to a much wider creative and professional audience.
A: Yes — performers under 18 are welcome to apply and perform. However, a parent or legal guardian must take full responsibility for their child’s participation.
Because many LA venues are 21+, hosting minors limits our venue options and requires additional planning, staffing, and supervision.
A small registration fee may be required from the parent or guardian to help cover these extra costs and ensure a safe, professional experience for young performers.
Our events vary in format — some are curated showcases that highlight specific artists, while others are community or open-format events focused on collective creativity and collaboration.
If an artist is featured in our event marketing (for example, their name or photo appears on flyers, posters, or social media promotions), that artist is expected to sell a set number of tickets to help ensure audience turnout.
This is part of the promotional exchange for being showcased and promoted through our platforms.
If the event does not prominently feature artist names or photos in official promotions, ticket sales are not required. However, all performers are still strongly encouraged to invite their friends, fans, and supporters to help create an energetic and engaged crowd.
At this time, selling tickets is not a strict requirement to perform.
We encourage every artist to participate in promoting the event and helping bring out a great audience — but no artist is currently required to sell tickets in order to perform.
In all cases, artists play a vital role in helping make each Red Velvet Studios event successful by spreading the word, building community, and supporting one another’s performances.
