Demo Submission at Red Velvet Studios

"Helping Artists Develop Their Sound & Brand"

Body Title

Step 1: Understanding Our Process

At Red Velvet Studios, we produce songs with both quality and potential.

We are selective with our clients and the artists we choose to work with.
Working with us an exclusive opportunity for artists that meet our standards.

Services we provide during the production of a song include:

Songwriting
Recording
Producing
Mixing
Mastering

Step 2: What Is a Demo?

A demo is a rough recording of your vocals showing your idea for a song.

It should include:

The chord progression
The song structure (verse, chorus, bridge, etc.)
The tempo/bpm
The key of the song

Think of it as the blueprint of a song.

It doesn’t need to be perfect—just clear enough to show the idea.

(We may later adjust chords, key, or structure in production.)

Step 3: Demo Requirements

Artists must submit a demo for each song they want considered.

Demo must clearly present the lyrics and melody.

❌ We do not work on every song just because it was written by the artist.

✅ We only produce songs we feel are strong and worth developing.

Step 4: Evaluation Process

Every demo is personally reviewed by the producer. We evaluate:

The strength of writing
The catchiness of the melody
The overall potential of the track
The artist’s voice, talent, and marketability

Step 5: Artist Potential vs. Songwriting Ability

Some artists have amazing voices but weaker songwriting skills.

Songwriting is critical to creating great music.

If needed, we may co-write with you or pair you with other writers.

This is an opportunity, not a limitation—great songs build great artists.

This is very common among less experienced artists and younger songwriters.

Step 6: Producer’s Judgment

If a song isn’t strong enough, we won’t produce it.

Our decisions are based on professional taste and judgment.

Often, the best approach is to write new songs together from scratch.

Step 7: Selection & Feedback

After review, we’ll tell you which songs move forward.
For songs not chosen, we often give constructive feedback.

Step 8: Alternative Options

If your demo doesn’t meet the standard, we may suggest:

Co-writing with you to improve the song

Starting fresh and writing a new track together

Step 9: Co-Writing & Royalties

Most songs require adjustments—meaning the producer is also credited.

Typical royalty splits:

Artist writes most lyrics/melody → 80% Artist / 20% Producer. Equal contribution 50/50

Producer rewrites significantly → Higher producer share

👉 Splits are discussed and agreed upon before production/release.

Step 10: Production Fee & Agreement

Before work begins:

Artist pays an upfront production fee (covers time, resources, and studio).

Both parties sign a production agreement (covers payment, royalties, responsibilities).

This ensures clarity, commitment, and professionalism.

Common Q&A

Body Title

Q: Does my demo need to be mixed/mastered?
A: No. It just needs to show your voice, melody, and talent clearly.

Q: Do I have to submit an original song?
A: Not always. Covers or live performances are fine if you’re not a songwriter.

Q: What if I’m not a songwriter?
A: That’s fine—we can write songs for you or co-write with you.

Q: What do you look for besides vocals?
A: The full package: image, creativity, songwriting ability, artistry.

Q: Do I need to live in Los Angeles?
A: No. We work remotely via video calls, Google Drive, FaceTime, etc. You can also travel to LA—or we can travel to you (at your expense).

Q: Does it cost money to work with you?
A: Yes. Artists hire us for professional production services. We only work with clients who have a budget.

Q: What happens after I submit my demo?
A: The producer reviews it. If we like what we hear, we’ll reach out with next steps.

Q: Can we collaborate?
A: Yes, but all collaborations are through professional, formal business agreements.

You may request a feature from Joseph Brooks as an artist (no fee). All other services require payment.
